About...
The Website
I began fooling around with websites in mid-late 2004/early 2005, making various little ones hosted in various locations on the web. After some time of suffering annoying hosts I'd found through searching via the Fanlistings and similiar who
were fairly incompetent, I decided to take matters into my own hands and be my own host. Originally, Untold Story resided at its own domain, untold-story.net, for a period of two years: Aug. 2005-2007. It contained three subdomains: /art, /photo,
and /fiction. Each was considered a separate entity; as time went on, I realized just how unrealistic this layout was, but I was stuck with it for the time being because I had already opened its doors to the world. It did, however, allow me to
make 4 different layouts for myself: a layout for the central domain and three subdomain layouts. When my hosting expired, I purposefully did NOT renew it, having decided I did not want to pay for another two years (or longer). I then turned to
Janet, my chum and fellow moderator on
AllAlias.com, and she generously agreed to give me hosting. I labored long and hard to reformat EVERYTHING to fit the new scheme, in which there were no
pointless subdomains and unity reigned, and, at long last, the final result appeared. I kept most of the original content but trashed some older material that made me want to hurl. It was not a simple task, recreating what had formerly been
separately coded subsections into one master website, but I maintain that it was worth the trouble because the final product far outshines the old arrangement. So here I am, having launched in fall 2007 the new and improved Untold Story.
The Material
The three sections do maintain their shape but not their separation: you can still surf through my fan art, photography, and fiction. I use
Photoshop Elements 6.0 to make my various blends, wallpapers, icons, and so on. I've only been creating
things since early 2005, and sporadically at that; I'm not as good at it as many on the web are. I bow to the almighty people out there who have undoubtedly superior skills. In any case, I enjoy web design and making icons (and some times fan
art), so that's why I have a section for fan art (which, of course, occasionally sparks something actually interesting and unrelated to TV/film/actors). In terms of photography, I recently procured a
Canon Digital Rebel XSi. It's fantastic, and
I'm enjoying getting some use out of it. And as for fiction... I love to write. I've been writing since I first learned how, and before that, I illustrated novels and drew in blank lines, left empty until the day I could fill them in. Needless to say,
I've improved since the age of 4 or 5 and know a lot more than I did then. I have been known to dally in fan fiction for Alias and Harry Potter, but I focus on original fiction and poetry.
The Creator
I am not one to release the intimate details of my non-web-related life. I am, however, willing to say that I am an American female who has travelled some and read quite a bit. I've been a moderator on
AllAlias.com for a few years now, and you might say that my whole relationship with websites and so forth followed from there. I was also a
Perfect Imagination (PI) beta for some years, but recently, I have retired from the listings in order to focus on bigger and better things. You might say that it had lost its glamor;
after selflessly guiding grammatically incompetent writers back to the light, I discovered that I did not want to spend too much time editing. I have a myriad of other things to which I dedicate my time, and beta reading is no longer one of them.
Anyway, on the tube, I like
Alias,
Lost, and
Veronica Mars, though I do sort of keep up with
Grey's Anatomy,
90210, and
America's Next Top Model. I abhor anything that resembles
The OC. In film,
I love
LOTR and
Star Wars and (of COURSE)
Harry Potter. Currently, I appreciate
The Departed,
Dear Frankie,
Prince Caspian, and
Saving Private Ryan. In literature, I have read dozens of books, so I
have difficulty in narrowing down my favorites. It suffices to say that Narnia holds a special place in my heart and that Philip Pullman's
His Dark Materials series have stuck with me for many years now.
The Layout
The current layout (version 8) of Untold Story features Jennifer Garner. She once starred on the critically-acclaimed show on ABC called
Alias, which was my first TV love. Nowadays she's a mommy and appears in commercials and the occasional movie. The photos here (from Jen-Garner.net) are from a photoshoot for her film
The Kingdom. Fonts from DaFont.com. Brushes from Brusheezy, the Butterfly, and Jigsaw. See the
links page if you like.
